I really needed to read this today. I struggle with the variance between “ I’m as young as I feel” and accepting my age limitations. Thank you!

Ditto Jill. Ram Dass’ story is a good reminder that if we ignore the warning shots while there’s still time to take better age- appropriate care of ourselves, our bodies will ultimately have the final say. When I was younger, I could skip exercises for weeks or even months at a time and get away with it. Now if I skip a single day, I feel it. While I was writing the book, I put my physical health on the back burner just as I had for my previous 36 books and this time now I’m paying for it. I won’t spend a lot of time in regret about the recent past and the choices that I made, but it is very humbling to start up my exercise program again, and see how much ground I lost. I’m on day three and already seeing some improvement, but again… Humbling!

By the way, Jill, I know that exercising is not your issue as you were one of the most disciplined people I know! I believe you were referring to getting overly committed to things… It just struck a resonant chord!
