My Plan B is to move to South America, where I can gain residency and afford to live on my social security. There are places like this one where even assisted living can be affordable! https://clublomas.com/
My Plan A was to have my family live in harmony, my grown children having a conflict-free relationship. At this point, that is not possible. My Plan B is to have a respectful, loving relationship with each child separately, hoping that over time they will work out their differences. I am making progress in this and realizing that stepping out of the middle is likely healthiest for my soul and their wellbeing.
I can relate Ruth. I am in a similar situation and have made a similar choice. My plan A was to keep traveling the world as long as possible with my companion. Plan B is doing my best to take care of him in his fifth year living with Alzheimer s disease.
What a great story and thought provoking question. I am still thinking—not ready to answer.

Thank you for sharing this, Monique. Life never seems to be as simple as Plan A but Plan B has a richness of its own.
