I am trying to learn to see the depression I experience as a chronic disease, perhaps like diabetes or a heart condition, and learn to accept and live with it. Continue to be the kind loving person that I am, and do as much as I can and rest when I need to. I also I am trying to see this disease as a stepping stone to learning and spiritual growth, but I’m not seeing it yet, not not even even little flickers.

You are challenged, Mino, but I can only hope that with perseverance the spiritual growth that you seek will ultimately triumph over disease.

Yes, I did think many things were going to be easy-- spiritual growth, political progress, and many other things. I was wrong, completely wrong. In every case, the right answer is not grievance but action with self-insight. I thought this was pretty easy, too. Psychotherapy, fifty years of journaling, meditation, dreamwork-- all the rest. I was wrong, completely wrong.
