Why Wait Until January to Start Getting to Know One Another?
Dear Fierce Ones,
A hearty welcome to our band of spiritual warriors who dare to believe that growing old can be a lifestage with meaning and purpose of its own—even in these turbulent times. As you know, we have enough subscribers who have made pledges to become members of the Spiritual Aging Study and Support Group (SASS) here at Substack to go live in January!
Many of you have expressed the sentiment: “I can’t wait for January.” So why don’t we kick-start SASS to a deeper level by starting to get to know one another now? If this appeals to you, send me a paragraph introducing yourself to the group. Please keep it to 150 words or less and if you’d like, feel free to add a link to your website, organization or special interest. Please send this over to my personal email Corsborn@aol.com with the subject line Member Intro. Also let me know if you prefer I wait until after January to share your intro with our committed members rather than the larger subscriber base of 2000 who are still considering whether to join in.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT WHEN WE LAUNCH
On Sunday, December 28, you will receive your first edition of the Spiritual Aging Study and Support Group Study Guide, correlated with the First Week of January’s reading from my book Spiritual Aging: Weekly Reflections for Embracing Life.
Each Sunday, you will receive an excerpt, reflection questions for journaling or group discussion, commentary and/or spiritual exercises and more. A new edition of the guide will be issued to you every week throughout 2025.
In addition there will be interactive online comment and chat threads for members only available to you 24/7. The topics on which we will ask and receive support include age-related losses, physical challenges, letting go of old identities, ambition versus self-care, overcoming regret, transforming anxiety to enthusiasm, and revisioning marginalization to love of solitude, individuation, freedom, hope and more. Finally, by joining us, you will be part of a global movement, shifting the paradigm of aging as a problem to be solved to aging as a spiritual experience.
I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating. May we grow not only old but whole—and may we do so in the company of the like-hearted woman and men of our generation who are coming into age together.
Yours,
Carol
I can email an intro, but I don't know how to register for the course. Please advise.
