Welcome to the third week of January and this week’s study guide.
Our hearts go out to the people of Los Angeles. In particular, I know that many of the members of our community have been personally impacted and the majority of us have meaningful connections to the area.
Please note that the topic for each week’s study guides coincide with the reflections as they are ordered in my book Spiritual Aging. While each is valid and stands on its own, you may personally be dealing with particular issues at any given time not directly addressed by this week’s reading. If you have my book, you can go to the subject index in the back which will guide you to a reading pertinent to whatever you are personally dealing with at this time. I am also supplementing the study guides with timely posts whenever possible. This includes the post I ran a few days ago:
The following study guide is an important reminder that even when the night is darkest, the stars can shine even brighter. Here’s to another week growing not just old but whole together.

This Week’s Excerpt: Higher Meaning and Purpose
“We who have allowed ourselves to be changed by our confrontation with aging have become older, wiser and fiercer. We regret less and appreciate more. And there are those moments when we dissolve completely into a state of joy for no reason, feeling in the very marrow of our bones that all is well in the world. But as the busyness, concerns and challenges of life begin reaching out to grab us in again, too often it is as if nothing profound happened.”
