This week, we welcome guest contributor John C. Robinson, who takes us on a deep dive through this excerpt from his most recent book of mystic poems, Divinity Rising: Beyond Illusion, Suffering, and Death.. I met John early in my spiritual journey through aging and his book The Three Secrets of Aging (2012). At the time, I was already writing about how to bring your spirituality to the challenge of aging, but John’s was the first that opened my eyes to the potential for aging, in and of itself, to be a spiritual experience rather than a problem to be solved. That was many years ago, so it’s no surprise that John has over the decades blossomed into a full-fledged mystic poet. He graces us here this week by showing the way to all of us who have been and are seekers to at last make an arrival.
Enjoy these poems—beams of light that illuminate the way.

The Mystical Self
Few understand the
mystic’s secret nature.
Passive or foolish to the unenlightened,
the mystic understands life
as a hallowed journey
through a profoundly-sacred realm
to light God’s consciousness
throughout Creation.
To this end, each mystic kindles a
small campfire of ethereal consciousness
beckoning others to come in from the
spiritual darkness of humanity self-betrayal.
The transfigured self that emerges from this friendship
holds everything the world needs and
you ever wanted.
The Problem of Meaning
We live in a vast matrix of meanings.
Everything explained, defined, compared and argued.
This matrix structures the entire human world and
the way you build a life that owns you.
When you drop the search for meaning,
you discover what is beyond words,
a sacred realm that
cannot not be owned by the ego.
Cause and effect disappear.
Goals and plans vanish.
With nothing left to figure out,
you look directly into the One.
You become the One.
Life in the Mystical Universe
The goal of the mystical life is not to
achieve grand things
but to be fearlessly alive
in a new way,
as the divine center of a
conscious cosmos,
trusting its inner nudges to
unfold the blueprint of your soul
in God’s flow.
Your Destiny
What happens when there is no “you”
in consciousness?
Plans and goals disappear.
Personal problems fade away.
Looking around,
eyes widen in wonder.
A new state of being emerges -
spontaneous and cheerful,
blessed and blessing.
Dissolved in the divine present,
action flows from the joy of
conscious being.
This is God’s original dream and
your destiny.

“Nothing left to figure out.” A lifetime
of seeking has brought me full circle, what freedom and enjoyment living in that truth brings!
The search for meaning in words often frustrates me. Words are just symbols of thoughts, emotions, desires, etc. I think I would like to experience a world of telepathy, but then, when would I have privacy?
